Claudette Davis died Monday, March 6, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 61.

Mrs. Davis was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Burnell Davis; her parents, Billy Williams Sr. and Carrie Lee Williams; and one brother, Albert Jones.

She is survived by two sons, Jeffery Williams and Maurice Phelps Williams, both of Vicksburg; three daughters, Linda Christmas, Jennie Simmons and Barbara Williams, all of Vicksburg; three sisters, Grace Price, Dorothy Lockhart and Bobbie Jean Williams, all of Vicksburg; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Lloyd P. Jacks.

WEST MONROE, La. – Lloyd P. Jacks of West Monroe, La., died Friday, March 3, 2006. He was 84.

Mr. Jacks was the son of Joseph and Nora Sharp Jacks of Stewart, Miss. He was a career agricultural educator and the author of many instructional aids. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Mississippi State University and his doctorate from Louisiana State University. He served on the faculty of several Mississippi high schools, Mississippi State University and Murray State University, where he was head of the Division of Agricultural Education for many years. Mr. Jacks was a member of McClendon Baptist Church, where he was a deacon. He was a member of the Rotary Club and served in the Mississippi Home Guard during World War II.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Jacks was preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters and his wife of 53 years, Fay Steen Jacks.

Survivors include a son, Patrick Lloyd Jacks of Jackson, Tenn.; a daughter, Donna Jacks Ingram of West Monroe; a brother, Troy Jacks of Laurel; three grandchildren; a great-grandson; and other relatives and friends, including Mary Jo Fulton of West Monroe.

Services were Sunday in West Monroe with Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe in charge.

Memorials may be made to the Dr. Lloyd P. and Fay Steen Jacks Memorial Scholarship through the Murray State Foundation at 100 Nash House, Murray, Ky. 42071-3316.

Jessie Mae Johnson.

Services for Jessie Mae Johnson will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 42.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Locust Grove M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Johnnie Mae Johnson; and a sister, Mizella Cook.

She is survived by five brothers, John L. Nickson, Allen Price, Norman Price, Roy Nickson and Jerome Nickson, all of Vicksburg; one sister, JoAnn Reese of Detroit; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including the Young and Johnson families of Vicksburg.

Harold D. Kirkpatrick Sr.

ST. JOSEPH – Services for Harold D. Kirkpatrick Sr., were at 10 this morning at Maryland Baptist Church in St. Joseph.

Mr. Kirkpatrick died Sunday, March 5, 2006, in St. Joseph. He was 84.

A longtime resident of St. Joseph, Mr. Kirkpatrick was born in Ringgold, La.

After serving in the Navy during World War II, he became employed with Tensas Parish Trade School and Avondale Plantation. During his retirement, he worked for Lake Bruin Water Plant. He was a member of Maryland Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Mertie Kirkpatrick; and two brothers, Cecil and Orene Kirkpatrick.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Strahan Kirkpatrick of St. Joseph; two sons, Harold Kirkpatrick of St. Joseph and Daniel Kirkpatrick of Gable, S.C.; two daughters, Patsy Ann Bean of Crestview, Fla., and Dora Alexander of Bryant, Ark.; one brother, Edward Kirkpatrick of Newellton; two sisters, Dorothy Morgan of St. Joseph and Barbara Davis of Grayson; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Jack Morgan, Mike McGuffie, Tim Currington, Justin Currington, David Crane, David Strahan, Johnny Foster and Raymond Ware.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Currington, deacons of Maryland Baptist Church, Cecil White, Jimmy White, Mike Vinson, the Men’s Sunday school class and members of the American Legion Post No. 174 in Newellton.

Donald L. Martin Sr.

Donald L. Martin Sr. died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at Heritage South Nursing Home in Vicksburg. He was 93.

A cattleman and farmer, Mr. Martin was a member of Satartia Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Denniece Howell Martin; and his parents, Vaiden Martin and Mae Alley.

Survivors include one son, Donald &#8220Donnie” Martin Jr. of Bentonia; two daughters, Janelle Cook and Joan Butler, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 today at Stricklin-King Funeral Home Chapel in Yazoo City with Dr. Darby Combs officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be J.J. Dunn, Martin Scarborough, Shon Berry, Keith Martin, Sam Cararas and Jeff Martin.

Millie T. Palmer.

Millie T. Palmer died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in Longview, Texas. She was 85.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Hinds County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Square Palmer Sr.; her parents; a son; two sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by six sons, Joe N. Palmer and P.J. Palmer, both of Elkhart, Ind., Horice Palmer and Abbie K. Johnson, both of Edwards, Square Palmer Jr. of Bolton and John E. Palmer of Vicksburg; three daughters, Betty A. Ramsey of Chicago, Mary L. Palmer of Bolton and Millie P. White of Longview; 19 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

Mary Laverne Reed.

Mary Laverne &#8220Bonnie” Reed died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at St. Dominic Memorial Hospital in Jackson. She was 51.

Ms. Reed was a member of Hickory Tree M.B. Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, David Reed Sr.; maternal grandparents, Alfred Erves Sr. and Hazel Carson Erves; paternal grandparents, John Reed Sr. and Pearl Kelly Reed; and one brother, Dennis Reed.

Survivors include her companion, Eugene Mack of Vicksburg; three daughters, Pamela Dotson, Kimberlin Clark and Kendra Mack, all of Vicksburg; her mother, Gladys Erves Reed of Vicksburg; three brothers, David Reed Jr., Calvin Reed Sr., and Alfred Reed Sr., all of Vicksburg; one sister, Adrienne Middleton of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
