LEXINGTON – Rev. Riley E. Ainsworth died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jackson. He was 78.

Born in Attala County, the Rev. Ainsworth was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard Ainsworth and Ida Stone Ainsworth.

Survivors include his wife, Helen &#8220Wink” Ables Ainsworth of Lexington; one son, Danny Ainsworth of Madison; two daughters, Debbie A. Anding of Vicksburg and Cherie A. Ricks of Crystal Springs; one brother, Tommie Ainsworth of Greenwood; three sisters, Sue Provenza of Greenville, Rebecca Stovall of Yazoo City and Syble Adams of Tupelo; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 today at First Baptist Church in Lexington. Burial will follow at Harlands Creek Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Homes in Lexington.

Pallbearers will be Grafton Anding, Brian Anding, Randy Yates, Scott Malpass, Thomas Ricks and Tommy Ricks.

Cade Ainsworth served as honorary pallbearer.

Austin Craig Crumb.

Services for Austin Craig &#8220George” Crumb will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Belmont M.B. Church in Utica with the Rev. Philip Burks officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Cemetery on Halls Ferry Road.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at Robbins Funeral Home and Sunday at the church from 1 until 2 p.m.

Mr. Crumb died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at his home. He was 43.

Mr. Crumb was a self-employed plumber. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie Crumb and Ella Mae Gibson Crumb; four brothers, Jessie Dorsey, Charles Crumb, Johnny Crumb and Leroy Crumb; and one sister, Maggie Thomas.

He is survived by two daughters, Tanzanika Dunn of Lakewood, Calif., and Bencile Crumb of Vicksburg; four brothers, James Crumb and Larry Crumb, both of Vicksburg, Carl Crumb of Cleveland, Ohio, and Billy Ray Crumb of Ontario, Canada; one sister, Lola Hughes of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, including members of the Gibson, Jefferson and Gross families.

Morris B. Cummins.

BOSSIER CITY, La. – Services for Morris B. Cummins were Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, La.

Mr. Cummins died Monday, March 6, 2006, in Bossier City, La.

He was 78.

Mr. Cummins was a longtime resident of Vicksburg and a business owner.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Cummins of Bossier City; two sons, Brad Cummins of Vicksburg and Ron Cummins of Benton, La.; and one daughter, Patricia Ann Joyce of Ruston, La.

Arthur Loomis Hawkins Jr.

Arthur Loomis Hawkins Jr. died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at his home. He was 75.

A longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Hawkins joined U.S. Rubber Reclaiming in 1963 as a sales and marketing representative. He became president in 1997 and CEO in 1999.

He attended Broadmoor Grammar School and Byrd High School in Shreveport, graduating in 1947. He served in the Army from 1952 until 1954. He received a bachelor of science degree in chemistry in 1954 from Louisiana State University, where he was a member of Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Mr. Hawkins was preceded in death by his father, Arthur L. Hawkins Sr.; and his mother, Martha T. Hawkins.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Peggy Hawkins of Vicksburg; four sons, Mark Hawkins and David Hawkins, both of Vicksburg, Paul Hawkins of Tallulah and Steve Hawkins of Tyler, Texas; a sister, Anice Morris of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter-in-law, Frances Hawkins; and two grandchildren, Dana Hawkins and David G. Hawkins, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Steve Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon today until the service.

Pallbearers will be Mike Killebrew, Mercille Wallace, Don LaGrone, Terry Guynes, Ricky Lowery, Don Morton, Scott Verhine and Randy Thorne.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees of U.S. Rubber Reclaiming Inc., Dr. William Wooten and Dr. Martin Newcomb.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

R.E. Manning Jr.

TALLULAH – R.E. &#8220Hot” Manning Jr., died Wednesday, March 8, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 83.

Mr. Manning was born in Drew, Miss. He had been a resident of Tallulah for more than 40 years. He owned and operated Manning and Son Repair Shop in Tallulah. He served as a veteran in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in Crystal Springs.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian H. Manning; one son, R.E. Manning III; two granddaughters, Regina Elizabeth and Rebecca Elaine Manning; and one daughter, Ruth Cagle.

Survivors include one daughter, Geneva Tompkins of Utica; one daughter-in-law, Eloise Manning of Tallulah; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at New Zion Baptist Church in Crystal Springs. Burial will follow at New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 this evening at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Gene Ford Sr., Gene Fulton, Charles Turner, Tony Russell, Clay Denley and David Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be O.J. Sharpe, Sonny Franklin, Calvin Young, Clyde Perkins and Tim Perkins.

Millie T. Palmer.

LONGVIEW, Texas – Services for Millie T. Palmer will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Bobby Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery under the directions of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg.

Mrs. Palmer died Thursday, March 2, 2006, in Longview, Texas. She was 85.

She was born in Hinds County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Square Palmer Sr.; her parents; one son; two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include six sons, Square Palmer Jr. of Bolton, Horice Palmer and Abbie K. Johnson, both of Edwards, John E. Palmer of Vicksburg, Joe N. Palmer and P.J. Palmer, both of Elkhart, Ind.; three daughters, Betty A. Ramsey of Chicago, Mary L. Palmer of Bolton and Millie P. White of Longview; 19 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

John Wesley Parker.

PORT GIBSON – Services for John Wesley Parker will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Leon Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Fellowship Cemetery in Lorman. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 this evening and from noon until the hour of service Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel in Port Gibson.

A 1968 graduate of Addison High School, Mr. Parker was a member of Greater St. Mark M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Parker Sr.; his maternal grandparents, Henry and Alberta Anderson; and his paternal grandparents, Love Parker and Martha Appleton.

Survivors include one daughter, Naomi Parker of Port Gibson; one son, Jonathan Parker of Port Gibson; his mother, Lettie Parker of Port Gibson; four sisters, Frances Anderson McDaniel of Ocean, N.J., Ida Parker of Port Gibson, Nadine P. Windgate of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Cris Davis of Vicksburg; five brothers, Leroy Parker of Phoenix, Julius Parker and Eddie Ray Parker, both of Port Gibson, Elvin Parker of Vicksburg and Clifton Parker of Clinton; six grandchildren; other relatives and friends, including the Parker and Appleton families, all of Vicksburg.
