Cathleen Mullins Ezell died Friday, April 28, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.

Mrs. Ezell was born in Coles. She had been a resident of Vicksburg for the past 60 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lee and Lellia McKenzie Mullins; a sister, Doris Lesinski; two brothers, Jack Mullins and Bo Mullins; and a granddaughter, Kimberly Michelle Arnold.

She is survived by her husband, Everett M. Ezell of Vicksburg; a son, Michael Everett Ezell of Germantown, Tenn.; a daughter, Ann McManus of Brookhaven; three sisters, Jean Ezell of Metairie, La., Sandra Benfield of Slidell, La., and Edna Ward of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. today.

Penny A. Risher.

MERIDIAN – Penny A. Risher died Monday, April 24, 2006, in Jackson. She was 55.

Ms. Risher was a native of Vicksburg and a graduate of Delta State University. She was active in the Delta State University Alumni Association. In Vicksburg, she worked at International Paper as an instrument electrician.

Ms. Risher was preceded in death by her parents, Charles A. Risher Sr. and Gertrude V. Risher, and a brother, John Michael Risher.

She is survived by two brothers, Charles Risher Jr. of Cornelius, N.C., and Tom D. Risher of Florence, Ala.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Magnolia Cemetery in Meridian with the Rev. Charles Risher officiating.

Joseph Mitchell Pecanty Sr.

Joseph Mitchell &#8220Mitch” Pecanty Sr. died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Promise Specialty Hospital Vicksburg after an extended illness. He was 68.

Born in New Era, La., he spent his youth in Acme, La. Mitch was the son of the late John Tillman Pecanty and Lena Ruth Beaubeouf Pecanty. Moving to Vicksburg in July 1970, he was employed by Bobby Hannon as general supervisor of Hannon’s Kentucky Fried Chicken until his retirement in October 1999.

Mitch was an avid cook and ardent hunter and had a fervent love for fishing. He was an honorary member of the Tallulah Bass Club, a past member of the Vicksburg B.P.O.E. No. 95, a member of the Acme Baptist Church of Acme and attended Shiloh Baptist Church in Claiborne County.

He married his wife, Mary Jane Pecanty, of 46 years, on May 12, 1960.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joseph Mitchell Pecanty Jr. and his wife, Marsha, and Kenneth Wayne Pecanty and his wife, Christy, all of Vicksburg; four granddaughters, Sophia Denise Ratliff, Mandi Michelle Pecanty, Ashley Elizabeth Kelly and Kristen Danielle Pecanty; four grandsons, Joseph Mitchell Pecanty III, Kristopher James Pecanty, Matthew Kyle Mattson and Hunter Ian Mattson; a great-granddaughter, Jacie Alexis Ratliff; a great-grandson, Bradley Mitchell Pecanty; four sisters, Dorothy Lee Ashley and her husband, C.J., of Natchez, Oma Ruth Sullivan and her husband, George, of Bossier City, La., and Peggy Joyce Rogers and Shirley Cliburn and her husband, Billy, all of Vidalia; two brothers, Huey Pecanty and his wife, Willa Dee, of Ferriday, La., and Alton Pecanty and his wife, Betty, of Vidalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to express their appreciation for the professional and personal care Mitch received from Dr. Daniel Edney and his nursing staff, Dr. Murray Whitaker and his nursing staff, the staff of Mississippi Home Care and the physicians and staff of Promise Specialty Hospital Vicksburg.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Toby Jenkins, pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church of Port Gibson, officiating. Burial will be at Green Acres Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Joe Pecanty Jr., Ken Pecanty, Joe Pecanty III, Kris Pecanty, Darin Pecanty, Brent White, Pat Ashley and Raymond Romero.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Daniel Edney, Dr. Murray Whitaker, Alton Pecanty, Huey Pecanty, Lee Roy Romero, Greg Aucoin, Curtis Melancon, Kyle Mattson, Hunter Mattson, Tex Nauert, the Rev. Mickey Bounds, George Sullivan, Billy Cliburn, Roy Ivey, Hugh Wilkinson, Larry Wilkinson, Bobby Hannon, Robert Rials, Gene Gaspard, Willie Willis, Kerry Ratliff, members of the Kentucky Fried Chicken group and members of the Tallulah Bass Club.
