&#8220It’s an honor to get picked for this and I’m proud to get this chance to coach the All-Stars,” said Rogillio, who completed his 11th year as the Lady Flashes fast-pitch coach. He’s taught at the Vicksburg Catholic school for 16 years.

&#8220You don’t really coach these teams, it’s more like directing traffic,” Rogillio said. &#8220The players know what they can do. When we get together Thursday, we’ll go over where they’ll play. We don’t pick these teams by position. You may have five shortstops, but we’ll sort that out. The big thing is that each of the 12 players will play at least one, full seven inning game.”

Beaugh, who has decided to walk-on to the women’s basketball team at Delta State University, played shortstop for St. Al this past spring after transferring from Porters Chapel Academy. She batted .294 and scored 14 runs in leading the Lady Flashes to a 15-7 record.

&#8220Annie may play short or she could be at third or second, we’ll see. She’s got such a quick release on her throws,” Rogillio said.

Beaugh will be in shape. She’s spent the past month working on Delta State’s training regimen.

&#8220I feel like I’ve lost some weight. I’ll take my first fitness test right before we leave for Newton County,” Beaugh said this week after watching St. Al play in a Central Mississippi Basketball League game at Warren Central.

Franco is a catcher and Rogillio said she will get her seven innings behind the plate. Franco is a two-time All-County pick and had an excellent senior season hitting .333 with 16 RBIs for St. Al. She will attend Hinds Community College in the fall.

Rogillio is familar with at least four other players from the South.

&#8220We played against Meleah Brown and Brittnee Smith of West Lincoln, so I know what those two can do. We’ve also got a girl (Amber Restivo) from Loyd Star that I know. One of our pitchers is Kate Moreland from East Webster and I saw her pitch in a playoff game,” he said.

Moreland led East Webster to the Class 1A title. She has signed with Delta State on a softball scholarship.
