Pfc. Oscar Howard Nettles.
Services for Pfc. Oscar Howard Nettles will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Pfc. Nettles died during the Korean War, and his remains were identified seven years ago. They were returned to Vicksburg this week.
Pfc. Nettles was born March 10, 1930, in Claiborne County to Isiah Nettles and Evelyn Bland Nettles. He attended McIntyre School before enlisting in the Army. He received training at Fort Benning, Ga., as a light-weapon infantryman, and served in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Rosie Reed; his grandfather, Howard Bland; and a brother, Willie Nettles.
He is survived by his mother, Evelyn Smith of Vicksburg; a sister, Rosa Griffin of Vicksburg; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Sally Mae Norris.
ROLLING FORK – Sally Mae Norris died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, at her home in Rolling Fork. She was 88.
Mrs. Norris was a native of Elba, Ala., and had lived in Rolling Fork for the past 50 years. She retired from Dot Stop Shop after 25 years of service. She was a member of Deer Creek Baptist Church in Rolling Fork.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Norris; and her brother, Arthur H. Wise.
She is survived by six daughters, Vivian Juanita Norris, Marilyn Braxton, Barbara Oswalt and June Kelly, all of Rolling Fork, Ann Wyatt of Vicksburg and Kathy Tatum of Belzoni; one sister, Katherine Sardillo of Citrus Heights, Calif.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Deer Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Carl Barnes officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Cemetery in Rolling Fork.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Margie Jean Page.
Services for Margie Jean Page were at 11 a.m. today at Riles Funeral Home with Hancell Bankester, pastor of First Christian Church, officiating. Burial followed at Green Acres Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Page died Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Covenant Health and Rehab of Vicksburg. She was 82.
Born in Galena, Kan., Mrs. Page had been a resident of Vicksburg for 32 years. She was the daughter of the late Ernest Redden and Amanda Jane Haynes Redden. A graduate of Galena High School, she received an LPN degree from Hinds School of Nursing. She was employed at Mercy Regional Medical Center for many years. She was a member of Red Carpet Sams Camping Club. She was of the Methodist faith.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, George Redden, Wally Redden and Ralph Redden; and a sister, Bessie Hayward.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Burford J. Page Jr. of Vicksburg; three daughters, Marsha Beard of Winterhaven, Fla., Betsy Wildschuetz of Florissant, Mo., and Anne Page of Vicksburg; two sons, Burford J. Page III of Olive Branch, Miss., and Christopher Page of Florissant; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Betty Lou Gilmer Park.
Betty Lou Gilmer Park, 87, died Sunday, Aug. 27, 2006, at Cornerstone Wound Care Hospital in West Monroe, La. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday, followed by the 11 a.m. memorial service at Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Services will conclude with burial at Green Acres Memorial Park with the Rev. Dural R. Ragsdale of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church officiating.
Mrs. Park was born Jan. 24, 1919, in the family home of her maternal grandparents in Hudsonville, Miss. Her parents were the late Weldon Jasper Gilmer and Bettie Rush Cheairs. She was the third of four children.
She grew up in the Hudsonville area and graduated in May 1937 from Marshall County Agricultural High School, located in Slaton, Miss. On June 6, 1937, she married James Fulton Park in the gardens of the Thomas D. Cheairs Hudsonville home. The couple lived in Memphis, Tenn., for 11 years before transferring to Vicksburg in 1948 where they reared their five children and lived for the remainder of their 55 years of marriage.
Mrs. Park was a member of Porters Chapel UMC for 50 years, a charter member of the Frances Hawthorn Circle of the United Methodist Women, involved in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) and very active in the Home Demonstration Club of Warren County.
For the last year of her life, she lived at Belmont assisted living facility in Vicksburg and then the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. Mrs. Park was a devoted wife, loving mother and exceptional homemaker with talents for Southern cooking, canning, gardening, quilting and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Fulton Park Sr.; her youngest son, the Rev. David Franklin Park; an infant granddaughter, Keri Ann Park; and a stepgrandson, David Clifton Holmes Park.
Survivors include three sons, James Fulton “Jim” Park Jr. and William Cheairs “Bill” Park, both of Vicksburg, and John Weldon Park of Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.; one daughter, Barbara Ann Park Donnell of Clinton; three brothers, William Jasper Gilmer of Germantown, Tenn., Arthur Ben Gilmer of Memphis and John King Gilmer of Olive Branch, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Michael William Park (grandson) of Vicksburg, Newt Arnold Goings (stepgrandson) of Monroe, John Weldon Park Jr. (grandson) of Hawthorne, Calif., Stephen Barr Park (grandson) of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Jonathan Meyers Nation (grandson-in-law) of Smyrna, Tenn., and Charles Rogers (grandson-in-law) of Vicksburg.

Michael Bradley Todd.
TALLULAH – Michael Bradley “Bubba” Todd died Monday, Aug. 28, 2006, in Port Allen, La. He was 38.
A Vicksburg native, Mr. Todd was a Tallulah resident and worked as a farmer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Tallulah.
He is survived by his wife, Charlyce Mathis Todd of Tallulah; one son, Dylan Todd of Tallulah; one daughter, Piper Todd of Tallulah; his mother, Duggar Todd of Tallulah; his father, Bobby Todd of Tallulah; his grandmother, Dena Todd of Tallulah; a sister, Wendy Todd Sligh of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock or to the Shriners.
