Robert A. Bright.
Robert A. “Bob” Bright died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 74.
Mr. Bright was born in Clarksdale and graduated from Greenwood High School. He was a Korean War veteran, serving with the 2nd Division 38th Artillery as a forward observer. He enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1954 and retired in 1973.
In 1982, he began a heavy-equipment escort service and retired in 2004. He was a member of the 31st Division Association.
Mr. Bright was preceded in death by his parents, Robert L. and Angelina Bright.
He is survived by a sister, Anne Sakara of Columbia, S.C.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Richard William Davidson.
Services for Richard William “Dick” Davidson will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Davidson died Friday, Sept. 15, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 62.
Mr. Davidson was born in Chicago and had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He served in the U.S. Navy and was an employee of LeTourneau Inc. for 27 years. Mr. Davidson was a driver for Falco Lime Inc. for the past 10 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Bob” Davidson and Bess Nevels Davidson; and two daughters, Donna Hynum and Tammy Hilderbrand.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Ann Davidson of Vicksburg; four sons, Bobby Mabbitt of Piqua, Ohio, Richard William Davidson Jr. and Tony Davidson, both of Vicksburg, and Jody Steen of Clinton; three daughters, Renee Bowers and Buffy Crowder, both of Vicksburg, and Bonnie Wilson of Ruth, Miss.; a sister, Bobbie Hogg of St. Petersburg, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nathon Oakes, Eddie Grant, Dickie Harmon, John Thomas, Larry Stewart, Leothis Webb, Johnny Williams, James Watson and Billy Chapin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Freeter Moorehouse, Pam Morgan, Barbara Wilkinson and Roxanne Gay.

Richard Alvin Gilbert.
Richard Alvin Gilbert died Saturday, Sept. 16, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 69.
A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Gilbert was the son of the late Raymond A. and Rosemary Countryman Gilbert. He served in the Navy in Vietnam.
He worked as a security guard for Baker Security and was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ray Edward Gilbert; and his sister, Mary Elvia Gilbert Sanders.
Survivors include a brother-in-law, Robert Sanders of Vicksburg; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Kuhrman Cox officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Sanders, Bobby Godwin, Steve Decareaux and Jaime Block.
Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, 6949 U.S. 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.
John Goods.
PORT GIBSON – John Goods died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006, at Claiborne County Hospital. He was 94.
Mr. Goods was a veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rosie B. Goods; a daughter, Helen Goods; and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by two sons, Ernest Goods of La Place, La., and Charles Goods of Vicksburg; one daughter, Susie Porter of Port Gibson; 10 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Second Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Eddie Walls officiating. Burial will follow at Mercy Seat M.B. Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 5 today at Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson and Tuesday at the church from 1 p.m. until the service.
