Jimmie J. Franks Sr.
EDWARDS – Jimmie J. “J.J.” Franks Sr. died Monday, Oct. 16, 2006, at his home in Edwards. He was 83.
Mr. Franks was a native of DeRidder, La. He made his home in Ferriday, La., Austin, Texas, and Clayton, La., before moving to Edwards in 1996.
Having served in the U.S. Army, Mr. Franks was a World War II Veteran and a self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy, in 1996; and two sons, Roger Franks in 2003, and Jimmie J. Franks Jr. in 1978.
He is survived by two daughters, Debbie F. Hoffman and husband, Eddie Joe, of Clayton and Buttons Randall of Edwards; a nephew, Bo Franks of Smithville, Texas; five grandchildren, Lea Danielle Franks Floyd of Monroe, La., Eddie Whittlesey-Stapp III of Clayton, Daniel J. Whittlesey-Stapp of Sicily Island, La., Brandi J. Whittlesey-Stapp of Arnold, Mo., and Nathan Randall of Edwards; a great-granddaughter, Alexandra Danae Whittlesey-Stapp of Sicily Island; his longtime companion, Annie LeJune of Edwards; and numerous other relatives.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Threeton officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Daniel J. Whittlesey-Stapp, Nathan Randall, Curtis Hoffman, John Stanley, Stevie Stanley and Wilbert Thompson.
Albert L. Tramel Jr.
JACKSON – Albert L. “A.L.” Tramel Jr., 82, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Mississippi Baptist Medical Center. A prayer service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home on High Street with burial following at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Tramel was born Nov. 2, 1923, the son of the late Landor and Grace Moak Tramel. A World War II veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Navy and was assigned to the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Mr. Tramel had been a member of IBEW Local 480 since 1942 and was a retired electrician. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 112, Pearl Masonic Lodge No. 23 where he was a 32nd Scottish Mason and Epworth United Methodist Church.
Mr. Tramel was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Sammy Mooney.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Ruth Hardy Tramel; daughters, Linda Harvey of Vicksburg and Debbie McCaffrey of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Davis Mooney, Scott Woodward, Julie Tallman and Kevin Mooney; and great-grandchildren, Samantha and Nathan Tallman and Elizabeth and Josie Woodward.
