Louise Moore Bailey.
Services for Louise Moore Bailey will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Herald M.B. Church in Rolling Fork. Burial will follow at Green Grove Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville.
Mrs. Bailey died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. She was 68.
A former resident of Rolling Fork, Mrs. Bailey lived in Vicksburg.
She is survived by five brothers, L.C. Moore of Greenville, Richard Moore of Jackson, J.C. Moore and Jessie Moore, both of Rolling Fork, and Tommie Lee Moore of Chicago; three sisters, Bertha Banks of Jackson, Mary Moore of Rolling Fork and Dorothy Monk of San Antonio.
David James Fields.
Services for David James Fields will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. David Brown Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Fields died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 47.
A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Fields was a former member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ellis; and his grandfather, Willie Fields.
He is survived by two sons, Dion King and David King, both of Vicksburg; two daughters, Demetras King and Michayla King of Vicksburg; his mother and stepfather, Ida and George Bass of Vicksburg; a sister, Carla Fields of Vicksburg; two brothers, Armond Bass of Vicksburg and Ernest Fields of Las Vegas; his grandmother, Maggie Fields; and other relatives and friends, including members of the Ellis family.
John L. James Sr.
Services for John L. James Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Clover Valley M.B. Church with the Rev. Tommy Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. James died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. He was 82.
Mr. James was the son of the late Roxie Neal James and Jim L. James. He was a native of Vicksburg and retired from Downey’s Plantation and the Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Clover Valley M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Williona James; and a son, Jessie James.
Survivors include seven daughters, Kristine Doss, Thelma Washington Moran, Barbara J. Newsome, Gloria M. James and Jackie A. James, all of Vicksburg, Betty Tucker of Pawtucket, R.I., and Louvinia James of Chicago; three sons, Melvin L. James of Augusta, Ga., Willie L. James of Vicksburg and John L. James Jr. of Atlanta; three sisters, Alena Nichols of Jamaica Plains, Mass., and Virginia Subject and Laura Harried, both of Vicksburg; 15 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Rosie A. Scott.
Services for Rosie A. Scott will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Triumph Church. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 until 7 p.m. Friday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with family hour from 6 until 7.
Mrs. Scott died Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at her home. She was 80.
Mrs. Scott was head cook at Heritage Retirement Home for more than 20 years and was a member of Shiloh M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Julius Scott.
Survivors include eight daughters, Dyanna Jenkins, Mary A. Turpin, Janett S. Rainey and Jacqueline Sanders, all of Vicksburg, Gloria J. Fletcher of Lake Providence, Mildred Walker of New Hebron, Miss., Rose M. Taylor of Houston and Donna M. Pollard of Jackson; three sons, Edward E. Edwards of Clinton, James O. Scott of Vicksburg and Michael W. Scott of Las Vegas; a stepdaughter, Hazel Sanders; five sisters, Janie Marshall, Alice Dawson, Ada Hadley, Anna McGee and Bonnie Tyler; three brothers, John Gray Jr., Washington “Candyman” McGee and Wiley McGee; 54 grandchildren; 70 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and friends and other relatives, including Stephanie D. Scott.
Tommie Tankson.
GREENVILLE – Tommie Tankson died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2006, at his home in Greenville. He was 90.
Born in Floweree, Miss., Mr. Tankson was a World War II veteran.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruben and Della Tankson.
He is survived by his daughter, Della Tankson Taylor Green of Vicksburg; a sister, Rosie Miller of Chicago; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church in Greenville with the Rev. Richard Williams Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Redmon Funeral Home Chapel in Greenville.
Jean B. Triplett.
Jean B. Triplett died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2006, at River Region Medical Center. She was 74.
Mrs. Triplett was a native of Holly Bluff and had been a resident of Vicksburg since 1957. She was the daughter of the late James Monroe and Althea Jennings Briggs.
She retired from Vicksburg Clinic as a bookkeeper and office manager and, in 1991, became part-time bookkeeper and secretary for the Vicksburg Hospital Medical Foundation. She also had a home-based tax service.
Mrs. Triplett served in the Air Force in the Korean Conflict. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Rae Bullard; and three brothers, Odell Briggs, Clarence Briggs and P.A. Briggs.
Survivors include her husband, Andrew M. Triplett of Vicksburg; a son, James Kevin Triplett of Vicksburg; one brother, Gerald Briggs of Vicksburg; two sisters, Lela Burkhalter of Glen Allan and Dewell Crawford of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Tammy Triplett of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Fisher Funeral Home with Kent Campbell and Reggie Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Robert Triplett, Lance Triplett, Clyde Triplett Jr., J. Reggie Crawford, Reggie Crawford and Tony Crawford.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Hendrik K. Kuiper and Dr. Joseph Wilson.
