PCA finds a line 1 piece at a time|[11/23/06]

One is a 150-pound guard who’s outplayed guys twice his size. Another, a center who thought he would never play football again. A third has been around a while, but switched positions halfway through his senior year.
While some offensive lines are referred to as “buffet busters,” Porters Chapel coach Randy Wright refers to his smaller group by a different food-related term.
“They’re a smorgasbord,” Wright said with a laugh.
Indeed, PCA’s front five, along with fullback Cody Ferguson and tight ends Robbie Simms and Matt Cranfield, have provided the push for the Eagles’ record-setting offense this season and the team’s date with Copiah in Friday night’s MPSA Class AA South State championship game.
While they may not bust a buffet – the largest member, right tackle Michael Roach, tips the scales at 250 pounds – their backstories and ability are as wide and varied as the heartiest Thanksgiving spread.
