Charles V. Dunn
TALLULAH – Services for Charles V. “Bink” Dunn will be at 2 today at Harris Cemetery in Crowville, La., with Todd Beene officiating. Burial is under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah.
Mr. Dunn died Monday, July 23, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, La. He was 73.
Born in Harrisonburg, La., Mr. Dunn had lived most of his life in Tallulah. He was a farmer and fertilizer salesman. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Rachel Bloom Dunn of Tallulah; three daughters, Donna Rachel Davilla, Phyllis Ann Dunn and Dottie Dunn; two brothers, Lloyd Dunn and Ronnie Dunn; three sisters, Nellie Mathews, Virgie Mae Fowler and Connie Erwin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Phil Scurria III, Phil Scurria IV, John Howard Watts, Ricky Ogden, Todd Beene and Dan Copes.
Memorials may be made to a favorite animal shelter.
Carrie V. Garrett
Services for Carrie V. Garrett will be at noon Thursday at Calvary M.B. Church with the Rev. Robert L. Miller Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service.
Mrs. Garrett died Friday, July 20, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 81.
A retired beautician, Mrs. Garrett was a member of American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213, AARP and Calvary M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Garrett Jr.; her parents, Andrew Ford Sr. and Mary Reed Ford; a son, Willie Lee Bass Jr.; two brothers, Wilbert Ford and Andrew Ford; and a sister, Beatrice Lyles.
She is survived by two sons, Albert D. Bass of Jackson and James Edward Bass of St. Louis; two daughters, Dorothy L. Barber and Mary Jeanette Moore, both of St. Louis; a brother, George Ford of Vicksburg; two sisters, Barbara Jackson of Aurora, Ill., and Mary Hicks of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth Davenport Middleton
UTICA – Elizabeth Davenport “Mama Lizzie” Middleton died Monday, July 23, 2007, at her home in Utica. She was 100.
A homemaker, Mrs. Middleton served on the mother board at Belmont M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Middleton; a daughter, Bertha Mae Draper; five brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her brother, Johnny Davenport of South Carolina; five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren and her caregiver, Jackie Hunt Sr. of Utica.
W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Mary E. Wall Ray
Mary E. Wall Ray died Sunday, July 22, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 77.
A native of Hickory, Mrs. Ray had lived in Vicksburg for more than 53 years. She was the daughter of the late Robert Emmett and Sallie Jane Wall. She worked as a contract specialist for the U.S. government for 20 years. She participated in Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA sports and P.T.A. She was a member of Ashmead Chapter of The Daughters of American Revolution and Crawford Street United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, W.B. “Billy” Ray; her son, David E. Ray; and two brothers, Robert K. Wall and Mike Wall.
She is survived by a son, William Michael Ray of Anguilla; a daughter, Sylvia Ray Gurtowski of Springfield, Va.; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Geoffrey Joyner officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from noon Wednesday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Billy Ray, Collin Gurtowski, Luke Gurtowski, Will Gurtowski, Kaleel Jabour, Ricky Gurtowski, Bruce Wall and Todd Wall.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ruth Irwin, Doris Miller, Carla Koestler, Alice Scott, Rich Wall and Lynn Wall.

Ean Scott Young
BROWNSVILLE, Tenn. – Services for Ean Scott Young, infant son of James Young Jr. and Nicole Young of Brownsville, were at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Conway officiating. Burial was under the direction of Brownsville-Bells Funeral Home.
Infant Young died Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Noah Young and William Young, both of Brownsville; his grandparents, James and Vicky Young and Kenneth and Lori Hatcher, all of Brownsville, and Leslie Emerson of Vicksburg; and great-grandparents, Stacy and Pat Hatcher, both of Port Gibson, Bill Young of Brownsville and Buddy Long of Covington, Tenn.
