Anderson Dunson
NITTA YUMA – Anderson Dunson died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. He was 84.
A resident of Nitta Yuma, Mr. Dunson was employed in agriculture.
He is survived by his wife, Zelvie Dunson of Nitta Yuma; four sons, William L. Dunson of Nitta Yuma and Willie Dunson, Roosevelt Dunson and Joe Dunson, all of Chicago; eight daughters, Edna Gilliam of Indianola, Emma Reed of Rolling Fork, Margie Thomas of Delta City and Willie M. Sutton, Letha Robinson, Cheryl Dunson, Rosie Dunson and Mary Dunson, all of Anguilla; and 53 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Christian Light M.B. Church in Anguilla with Pastor Melvin Kneeland officiating. Burial will follow at Nitta Yuma Cemetery.
A wake service will be from 6 until 7 tonight at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
Mark M. Simrall
REDWOOD – Mark M. Simrall died Saturday, July 21, 2007, in Sharkey County. He was 39.
Mr. Simrall was director of Ballground Plantation. A lifelong resident of Redwood, he was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was a graduate of St. Aloysius High School, where he received the Virgadamo Award. He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he was a member of SAE fraternity, serving as rush chairman.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B. Newell Simrall Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. John Warren Karsten Jr.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Hackler Simrall of Vicksburg; one stepdaughter, Danielle Pecanty of Vicksburg; his father, Newell Simrall III; his mother, Kay Karsten Jones of Elizabethton, Tenn.; three brothers, Karsten Simrall and wife, Holley, of Vicksburg, Newell Simrall IV and wife, Sweyn, of Jackson and Daniel “De” Ferguson and wife, Stacey, of Bovina; one sister, Rea Simrall Leist and husband, DeWayne, of Redwood; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church with Dr. Tim Erskine officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service.
Pallbearers will be Tom Lee, Kylan Love, Kevin Love, Keaton Love, Sam Thigpen, Albert Dornbusch and James Carter.
Honorary pallbearers will be J.O. Smith III, Bill McWright, Rufus Jeffrey, Mel Ragan, Don Jeffrey, Jerry Burroughs, Martin Pace and members of the Warren County Sheriff’s Department.
Willie Lee Tillman
Services for Willie Lee “Sonny” Tillman will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Rudy Smith officiating, Burial will follow under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 until 6 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Tillman died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 75.
Mr. Tillman was retired from Anderson-Tully Co. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Tillman; a daughter, Patricia Ann Conway; his father, Walter Tillman; and his mother, Lillie Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Watson Tillman of Vicksburg; two sons, Donald Ray Tillman and Roy Tillman; one daughter, Linda Tillman-Fletcher; two brothers, R.J. Tillman and Walter J. Tillman, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Jessie Mae Green and Rose Lee Redmon, both of Vicksburg, and Lena Armstrong of Maywood, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Martha Mae Williams
Services for Martha Mae Williams will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ebenezer M.B. Church with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Williams died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 69.
Mrs. Williams was retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District. She was a member of Ebenezer M.B. Church, where she was a former usher. She was a former member of the Elite Civic and Social Club and the Vicksburg Benevolent Homecoming Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Williams Sr.; one daughter, Anita W. Jones; two brothers, Leonard Nash Jr. and Booker T. Nash; father, Leonard Nash Sr.; and her mother, Mary Galtney Taylor.
She is survived by four sons, Charles Williams Jr., Nathaniel Williams and John Wesley Williams, all of Vicksburg, and Howard L. Williams of Detroit; two daughters, Virginia D. Connor of Vicksburg and Rose Blair of Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother, Charles E. Taylor of Vicksburg; three sisters, Betty L. Smith and Louise Kennedy, both of Vicksburg, and Winnie Shorter of Pittsburgh, Pa.; 11 grandchildren, including Montoya W. Parson and Lashondra Williams of Vicksburg whom she reared; and 13 great-grandchildren.
