Donald E. Barnes
Donald E. Barnes died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 65.
A native of Crenshaw, Mr. Barnes had lived in Vicksburg for most of his life. He retired from Waterways Experiment Station as a computer specialist. He was a member of Solid Rock Pentecostal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mavis Barnes of Vicksburg; a son, Randall Barnes of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Rose Annette Barnes West of Vicksburg; two brothers, Brooks Barnes of Arkansas and Mikel Barnes of Houston; five sisters, Dallastine Wright, Bobbie Williamson and Kitty Baker, all of Vicksburg, Judy Berry of Arkansas and Maudine Wilhart of Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Billy J. Talbert officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Israel West, Daniel Barnes, Jerry Marshall, Tommy Gardner, Kendall Stevens, Larry Montpelier, Kenny Roberts and Wayne Williamson.
Honorary pallbearer will be John Boler.
Henrienne Dunbar
DETROIT — Services for Henrienne “Mue” Dunbar will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Church, Westside Community, Lorman, with the Rev. Elijah Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Carbondale Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at the funeral home and from 10 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service at the church. The family will be present from 6 until 7 tonight.
Mrs. Dunbar died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in Detroit. She was 95.
Mrs. Dunbar was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mattie Watkins; her husband, Joseph Dunbar; a daughter, Henrienne Heidelberg; a brother, Henry Watkins; and three sisters, Willie Marshall, Cordelia Dunbar and Pearl Plump.
She is survived by a son, Joseph Dunbar of Detroit; a daughter, Joan Barber of Durham, N.C.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Cmdr. Robert Austin Keeling
BOLIVAR, Mo. — Cmdr. Robert Austin Keeling died Saturday, Nov. 17, 2007, at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. He was 69.
Cmdr. Keeling was born in Greenwood to Robert Benton and Emily Josephine Martin Keeling. He graduated from Carr Central High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1955. He received a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of Mississippi in 1962 before being commissioned an officer in the Navy, serving until 1981 and retiring with the rank of commander.
He was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal.
After retirement, he received a master’s degree and worked as chief of distribution for the State of Mississippi’s WIC program.
Cmdr. Keeling moved to Bolivar, Mo., where he volunteered with the Chamber of Commerce and was a member of the American Legion and First Baptist Church.
He is survived by a daughter, Shannon Keeling of Memphis; a son, Austin Keeling of Oxford; one sister, Harriett Gray of Vicksburg; and his former wife, Margie Keeling of Jackson.
Services were Tuesday at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar with the Rev. Bill Hooper officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar.
Pallbearers were Bruce Robidou, Jim Raney, Paul Mott, Ron Myers, Ed Clark and Ron Hutcheson.
Memorials may be made in his memory to First Baptist Church of Bolivar, 316 N. Main Ave., Bolivar, MO 65613.
Wilma J. Smith
Wilma J. Smith died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 76.
Mrs. Smith was a retired warehouse employee.
She is survived by two sons, James Smith Jr. of Port Gibson and Carl Smith of Vicksburg; and four daughters, Ida Barnes of Memphis and Bobbie J. Smith, Alice Beamon and Mary Stevenson, all of VIcksburg.
Lakeview Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
George Stimage
Services for George Stimage will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter M.B. Church. Burial will follow at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.
Visitation will be from 2 until 6 tonight at Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of service at the church.
Mr. Stimage died Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. He was 67.
A native of Vicksburg, Mr. Stimage was a New Orleans resident. He was a veteran of the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Delena Deloris Stimage of New Orleans; two sons, Ronald Damon Stimage of New Orleans and James Darrell Stimage of Lancaster, Texas; one daughter, Camela Faye Clark of Florissant, Mo.; a sister, Mary Ella Stimage Dixon of Omaha, Neb.; one granddaughter; and other relatives, including Otto Clark of Florissant, Valencia Stimage of Lancaster and Lolita Stimage, Helen Green, Lillian Sanders, Don C. Hubbard and Robert Treat, all of New Orleans.
