Col. Adrian M. Burrows Jr.

SUMTER, S.C. — Services for Col. Adrian M. Burrows were Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Durrett officiating.

Mr. Burrows died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007, at his home.

Mr. Burrows was the son of the late Adrian M. Burrows Sr. and Leila Mae Curtis Burrows. He attended public schools in Vicksburg and graduated from Denver University in Denver, Colo. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked 10 years for Home Federal Savings and Loan of Sumter. He was a member of the Sumter Kiwanis Club, Hillcrest Masonic Lodge No. 397, Sunset Country Club, The Retired Officers Association, Air Force Association, AARP and The Godfathers Golf Group.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannette E. Burrows; two sons, Adrian M. Burrows III of Hutto, Texas, and Morris A. Burrows of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Bonnie Bain of Sumter and Patricia A. Reed of Baton Rouge; and seven grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were members of The Godfather Golf Group.

Winifred Watson Holaday

Winifred Watson Holaday died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2007, at Belmont Place in Vicksburg. She was 93.

A native of Minter City, Mrs. Holaday had lived in Vicksburg since 1976. She worked as an office manager for Shands & Baker of Fort Myers, Fla., and as office manager and receptionist for City Lumber of Pascagoula for a number of years. She was also a homemaker.

She was a member of the DAR, United Methodist Women Church and Crawford Street United Methodist Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Dow Holaday; a grandson, David Alan Atkins; one sister, Irene Wood; three brothers, Joseph Watson, Roy Watson and Gene Watson; her mother, Winifred Higdon Watson; and her father, George Edgar Watson.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Sue Flathau of Vicksburg and Gayle H. Earnest of Steamboat Springs, Colo.; two grandsons, Parker G. Atkins Jr. of Oak Creek, Wis., and Tim Atkins of Forest; two granddaughters, Lori Lynn Schultz and Rebecca Sue Paquette, both of Denver, Colo.; one brother, Sherrod Watson of Ellisville; two sisters, Dodie Graham Pritchard of Olive Branch and Ellen Bradford of Fayetteville, Ark.; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Thomas Shreve and Michael Fields officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice Foundation or the Mississippi Association for the Blind.

Lillian B. Jackson

Lillian B. Jackson died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007, at River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

Born in Uniontown, Ky., Mrs. Jackson was the daughter of the late Bishop Marvin Smith and Amanda Hays Smith.

Formerly of Momence, Ill., she had lived in Vicksburg for the past two years. She was a member of the Momence Church of the Nazarene.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Jackson; a son, Larry Jackson; and two sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Salas of Vicksburg; three brothers, David Smith of Port Gibson and Wilbert Smith and James Smith, both of Momence; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. Burial will follow under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, 530 Mission 66, Vicksburg, MS 39183.

Clifton Moss

EDWARDS — Clifton “Catfish” Moss died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2007. He was 50.

Mr. Moss attended Edwards Attendance School and worked for McHann Railroad Construction. He was a member of Friendship M.B. Church.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Emma Hall Smith and Clifton Jordan; paternal grandparents, Diamond and Betty Hunter Mixon; and a brother, Alvin Moss.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Moss of Edwards; his father, Ernest Mixon of Edwards; four daughters, Angela Brookshire of Edwards, Letitia Mason, Krystal Mason and Christy Mason, all of Bolton; two brothers, Larry Moss and Ronnie Joe Johnson, both of Edwards; seven sisters, Shelia Kirkland, Pamela Dillion, Laura Brown, Cassandra Lee and Toronda Mixon, all of Edwards, and Sharon Stamps and Nedra Stamps, both of California; and other relatives and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Friendship M.B. Church in Edwards with the Rev. Bobby Burks officiating. Burial will follow at Greenhill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

David T. Wadsworth

David T. Wadsworth died Thursday, Dec. 20, 2007, at his home. He was 74.

Born in Beechwood, Miss., he was the son of the late Frank Harley Wadsworth and Pauline Butler Wadsworth. He was a graduate of the Neville High School in Monroe, La., and received a bachelor of science degree from Northeast Louisiana State College.

Mr. Wadsworth served in the Army as a unit commander with the rank of first lieutenant in the Armed Recon Division. He was a retired chemist with Ergon and was a member of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church and various community organizations.

He is survived by a son, David Bradley Wadsworth of Houston, Texas, and other relatives.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church with the Rev. Canon David Johnson officiating, assisted by Harvey Smith. Burial will be at the church cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Scott, Bobby Barlow, Jim Horan, Bryan Brabston, Phillip Brown, David Green and Ray Sturgis.
