John-Dustin Hilderbrand

John-Dustin Hilderbrand died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at his home in Vicksburg. He was 15.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, John-Dustin was a student at Vicksburg High School. He attended Berachah Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Josie Williams.

Survivors include his father, John Hilderbrand of Vicksburg; his mother, Dawn Hilderbrand of Vicksburg; three brothers, John Sadler Hilderbrand, Brandon Lee Lynn and Carson Brayden Lynn, all of Vicksburg; two sisters, Debbie Danielle Hilderbrand and Lacey Williams, both of Vicksburg; his paternal grandparents, Doll and Sonny Mathes of Vicksburg and Ernest and Sandra Hilderbrand of Bentonia; his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Velma Powell of Pearl and Wanda and John Perrier of Diamondhead; a stepfather, Billy Lynn of Vicksburg; and a stepmother, Nicole Warnock of Vicksburg.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Randall McCool officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until the service.

Pallbearers will be Chris Lynn, Michael Lynn, Wayne Robinson, John Hilderbrand, Sam Anderson and James Hicks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Lynn, Edward Mathes, Steven Muirhead, Luis Gutierrez, Craig Vickers, Chad Vickers and Corey Herring.

Elsie Darby Vessell

Elsie Darby Vessell died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 94.

Born in Florence, Ala., she had been a resident of Vicksburg most of her life. Mrs. Vessell was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church, where she was a co-founding member of Joy Fellowship. She was a member of the Eastern Star. She was the founder and charter member of The Friendship Club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James V. Vessell; her mother, Leona T. Darby; her father, Thomas E. Darby; and five brothers, William Claude Darby, Harold G. Darby, T.E. Darby, John Ellis Darby and Roy Darby.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Jimmy F. Vessell and his wife, Ann, of Vicksburg; a daughter, Janie V. Williams and her husband, Benton, of Vicksburg; five grandchildren, Robby Vessell of Dallas, Randy Vessell of Jackson, and Ricky Vessell, Christopher Williams and Jennifer W. Penley, all of Vicksburg; seven great-grandchildren, Kori Vessell, Kaleb Vessell, Madison Belle Pitzer, Brantly Williams, Bridges Williams, Mason Penley and Lori Elizabeth Vessell; a brother, Billy E. Darby of Florence, Ala.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Glenwood Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Wednesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Williams, Robby Vessell, Randy Vessell, Ricky Vessell, Andrew Penley and Hugh Green.

Donald Wayne Vinson

Services for Donald Wayne Vinson will be at 2 p.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Revs. Dean Cook and Charles Houston officiating. Burial will follow at Green Acres Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from noon until the service.

Mr. Vinson died Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, as the result of a gunshot wound. He was 39.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Vinson was a welder and pipe-fitter and member of the Local 619 Carpenters. He was a hunter and fisherman and member of Northside Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Vinson of Vicksburg; one daughter, Amber Vinson of Vicksburg; his parents, James F. and Betty Jo Vinson of Vicksburg; three brothers, James F. Vinson Jr. of Memphis and Larry C. Vinson and Barry D. Vinson, both of Vicksburg; two sisters, Becky Abbott of Vicksburg and Rita Blankenship of Memphis; and one grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Ben Luckett, Ricky Pennington, John Johnston, Shane Rowland, Gene Jacks and Greg Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Jones and Charles Houston.
