Paula Ann Hendon
Paula Ann Hendon died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 35.
Born in Ohio, Ms. Hendon had been a Vicksburg resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School and Hinds Community College. She was employed at Domino’s Pizza.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul A. Gartman.
Survivors include her mother, Jeri Gartman of Vicksburg; her father, Calvin Gartman of Columbia; two sisters, Tracy Cupples and Toni Goodwin, both of Vicksburg; and her companion, Charles Wilson of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ray Goodman, Jim McDermott, Harold Mouser, Barger Moss, Beaver Myers and Jerry Lynch.
George Price Jr.
CHICAGO — Services for George Price Jr. were Saturday at Sunrise M.B. Church in Chicago.
Visitation will be from 9 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home in Vicksburg. Burial will follow at Mount Alban Cemetery.
Mr. Price died Monday, March 31, 2008. He was 62.
Mr. Price was the son of Willie Virginia and George Price Sr. He was a former member of Mount Alban M.B. Church of Vicksburg and attended the Vicksburg Public Schools.
He moved to Chicago, where he was a member and deacon at Sunrise M.B. Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Price; and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Lee Retha Hinkle Price; a son, George K. Price; two daughters, Connie Price Figueroa and Chontrale Price; three brothers, John Price of Texas and Ray Price and Walter Price, both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Virginia Richey of Tupelo, Beatrice Wilson of Dallas, Patricia Price of Vicksburg and Linda Carter and Kathryn Price, both of Florida; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dr. Miguel Feliciano Solis Ramirez
FORT WORTH, Texas — Miguel Feliciano Solis Ramirez M.D., 84, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Chapel in Fort Worth, Texas. Burial will follow at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Dr. Solis was born Nov. 16, 1923, in Managua, Nicaragua. He was a retired physician who received his bachelor of science from Howard Payne University and went to medical school at La Universidad De Nuevo Leon in Monterrey, Mexico. He interned at Phoenix Baptist Memorial Hospital in Phoenix, Ariz., and the Baptist Hospital at San Antonio. He completed his residency in anesthesiology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.
Dr. Solis was a member of the Nicaraguan presidential medical staff and served under Presidents Luis Somoza, Renee Schick and Anastasio Somoza. He was also a major in the Nicaraguan Army Medical Corps.
Upon the communist takeover of Nicaragua, he returned to the United States and worked for the State of Mississippi at Kuhn Memorial Hospital in Vicksburg until he retired in 1989.
He was a humanitarian who saved many lives in his career and dearly loved his family and his grandchildren.
Dr. Solis was preceded in death by his oldest son, Dr. Miguel “Mike” Feliciano Solis.
Dr. Solis leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Aurora Solis of Fort Worth; his children, Robert Solis of Fort Worth, Joseph Solis and wife Leann of Grand Prairie, Texas, George Solis and wife Susan of Burleson, Texas, and Elizabeth Solis and Eric Solis, both of Vicksburg; one grandson, George Solis Jr.; and three granddaughters, Emily Rose Solis, Brooklyn Marie Solis and Bailey Marie Solis.

Troy Claude Vessell
UTICA — Troy Claude Vessell died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at his home in Utica. He was 71.
A lifelong resident of Utica, Mr. Vessell was formerly employed in the maintenance department at Cedar Grove Mansion. He was a veteran of the Army and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Geneva Conerly Vessell of Utica; one son, Randy Vessell of Edwards; two daughters, Shelia Armstrong of Richland and Jackie Cranfield of Utica; two brothers, David Vessell of Raymond and Johnnie Vessell of Columbus, Ga.; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Utica with the Rev. Charles Yates officiating. Burial will follow at Utica Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home in Utica.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Furr, Phillip Grantham, Kenny Cranfield, Tommy Cranfield, John Horn, James Horn, Andy Armstrong and Clyde Conerly.
