Charlie Flaggs
CHICAGO — Charlie Flaggs died Sunday, April 6, 2008, at his home in Chicago. He was 71.
Mr. Flaggs was preceded in death by his father, Horace Flagg; his mother, Lela Bell Funches; three brothers, Rosco Funches, Eddie Richardson and George Flaggs Sr.; and one sister, Christina Milling.
Survivors include one sister, Lois Flagg of Edwards; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Mozella Flagg and Victoria Taylor, both of Vicksburg, Josie Richardson of Utica and members of the Funches family.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Paula Ann Hendon
Services for Paula Ann Hendon were at 11 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White officiating. Burial followed at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Hendon died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home in Vicksburg. She was 35.
Born in Ohio, Ms. Hendon had been a Vicksburg resident most of her life. She was a graduate of Warren Central High School and Hinds Community College. She was employed at Domino’s Pizza.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul A. Gartman.
Survivors include her mother, Jeri Gartman of Vicksburg; her father, Calvin Gartman of Columbia; two sisters, Tracy Cupples and Toni Godwin, both of Vicksburg; and her companion, Charles Wilson of Vicksburg.
Pallbearers were Ray Godwin, Jim McDermott, Harold Mouser, Barger Moss, Beaver Myers and Jerry Lynch.
Laurie Jean Kinabrew
LIBERTY — Laurie Jean Kinabrew died Saturday, April 5, 2008, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center in McComb. She was 80.
Mrs. Kinabrew was born in Amite County on Feb. 16, 1928, to Laurie G. Causey and Wilma Lusk Causey. She was a housewife and a resident of Liberty for many years. She was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Gordon Kinabrew; and one brother, Charles Causey.
Survivors include her brother, Lloyd Causey of Vicksburg; one sister-in-law, Marjorie Causey of Gloster; three nephews, Robert Causey and his wife, Helen, of St. Gabriel, La., Ashley Causey and his wife, Karen, of Redwood, Davis Causey and his wife, Sherrie, of Mandeville, La; four nieces, Sandra Ravencraft and her husband, Wayne, of Liberty, Jewel Causey of Natchez, Belinda Fischer and her husband, Paul, of Sarasota, Fla., and Reba Causey of Vicksburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home in Liberty with the Rev. James Sadler officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Jessie Bell Nichols
EDWARDS — Jessie Bell Nichols died Friday, April 4, 2008, at her home in Edwards. She was 95.
Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
Nelia Irene Young
FOREST — Nelia Irene Young died Tuesday, April 8, 2008, at Lackey Memorial Hospital in Forest. She was 98.
Mrs. Young was a former resident of Morton and moved to Forest in 2000. She retired from B.C. Rogers Poultry Company and began her second career at Mississippi Care Center in Morton where she worked in food service until the age of 87. She was an avid gardener, growing beautiful flowers and vegetables and in past years enjoyed making quilts for family and friends. She was a woman of tremendous faith and was devoted to her Lord and her family. Mrs. Young was the oldest member of First Baptist Church of Morton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walton and Leathy Harkey; husbands, Dale Calhoun and Spurgeon Young; a daughter Irene Townsend; three sisters Lona Whatley, Gwendolyn Wade and Mollie Dee Barfield; a brother Miller Harkey.
Family she leaves behind will forever cherish her love and sweet memories. Survivors include daughters Latain Blossom and husband Charles of Forest; Ruby Hamilton of Forest; Sherrie Johnson and husband Fred of Morton; Lucy Young of Vicksburg; son Dub Young and wife Liz of Morton; and sister Lillie Austin of Philadelphia, Miss; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ott and Lee Funeral Home in Forest with Earl Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Harperville Cemetery in Harperville. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 9 at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Sammy Blossom, Bill Blossom, Ben Kitchens, Scott Young, Adam Young and Thomas Crapps.
