UTICA – Sandra Lee Bass died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at her home. She was 52.

Mrs. Bass was a lifelong resident of Utica. She was an employee of the Sunflower Food Store in Utica.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Joesphine A. Graham; and a sister, Joyce R. Graham.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph L. Bass of Utica; three sons, Roy L. Graham of Hattiesburg, Joseph L. Bass Jr., and Christopher L. Bass, both of Utica; one brother, Richard L. Graham of Utica; three sisters, Cynthia A. Jones and Tammy J. Driver, both of Utica, and Jimmie L. Turnage of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Joesphine “Joise” Graham, Linda “Evie” Graham and Walter E. “Booige” Graham, all of Hattiesburg.

A service will be at 6 p.m. Saturday at Utica Christian Church with the Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until the hour of the service at the church.

Vivian LaNell Bearden

PATTISON – Vivian LaNell Bearden died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at her home. She was 89.

Mrs. Bearden was a lifelong resident of Pattison. She and her husband owned and operated Beardens’ Grocery in Pattison. She was an employee for a number of years at the Allied Chemical Co. in Port Gibson. She was a member of Pattison Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bearden; and a sister, Frances Jordan.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert Bearden and Pat Bearden and his wife, Jeanna, all of Pattison; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson with the Rev. Cliff Nelson, officiating. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery in Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 this evening.

Pallbearers will be J.J.Bearden, Shelby Bearden, Billy Vinson, Steve Hannis, Jimmy Hannis and Lynn Goff.

Honorary pallbearers will be Aubrey Hynum Jr., John “Brother” Trevilion, Jeff Bearden, Willie Bearden, Fannie Johnson, Claire Burnett, Melanie Oakman and the staff of the Camellia Home Health.

Mary Tribble Caldwell

Mary Tribble CaldwellOur dear, departed mother, Mary Tribble Caldwell, died May 11, 2008. She was 70.

Mother Caldwell was a retired private-duty nurse. She was a faithful member of Travelers Rest M.B. Church for 43 years before becoming a member of King Solomon M.B. Church. She was on the mother board and was truly a Christian woman. She faithfully loved the Lord.

Mother Caldwell was a wonderful, beautiful, loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Mother Caldwell is in heaven with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Virginia Walker Tribble; her son, Jaymes D. O’Neal; and her niece, Bettye Ann Walker.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory forever her husband, Sullivan L. Caldwell; one daughter, Mary J. O’Neal-Carter of Vicksburg; two sons, George O’Neal Jr. and Calvin O’Neal, both of Vicksburg; six sisters, Grace Tribble of Chicago, Annie Mae Tribble of Inglewood, Calif., Johnethel Marlow of Compton, Calif., Annette Page of Vicksburg, Annie Lou Tribble of Aurora, Ill., and Minnette Tribble of Los Angeles; four brothers, Jimmie Tribble of Bainbridge, Ga., Tom Tribble of Minneapolis, Minn., Joseph “Joe” Tribble Jr. of Chicago and Tommy B. Tribble of Vicksburg; 10 grandchildren, including Keith L. Carter of Vicksburg; four great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends, including the Walker, Tribble, Jackson and O’Neal families.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Reginald D. Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Flora Mae Jones

Flora Mae JonesServices for Flora Mae Jones will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill M.B. Church with the Rev. Joseph Brisco Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery under the direction of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the service.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Alide Hospice in Nashville, Tenn. She was 63.

Born in Warren County, Mrs. Jones was a certified nurse’s aide. She was a 1962 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School and a member of Pleasant Hill M.B. Church of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her father, Major Jones; her maternal grandparents, Jake Austin and Emma Austin; and paternal grandparents, Pete Jones and Gertrude Fuller Atkins.

Survivors include two sons, Leroy Pendleton of Tallulah and Michael D. Chambers of Nashville; two daughters, Charlinda F. Chambers and Sherry L. Jones, both of Nashville; her mother, Sadie Mae Austin Jones of Vicksburg; two brothers, McArthur Jones of Los Angeles and Willie Lee Jones of Bellflower, Calif.; two sisters, Emma L. Parker and Virginia J. Regan, both of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Judge Richardson Malone Jr.

GREENWOOD – Judge Richardson Malone Jr. died Monday, May 12, 2008, in Greenwood. He was 73.

Mr. Malone was born in Vicksburg. He worked in the furniture manufacturing industry.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Judge Richardson and Rosa Bell Adams Malone.

Survivors include a son, Ricky Malone of Pontotoc; a daughter, Mary Frances Fitzgerald of Pontotoc; and four sisters, Asenath Shy of Vicksburg, Jeanette Wade Robinson of Biloxi, Elizabeth Hagewood of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Joyce Mattina of Lake Village, Ark.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cedar Hill Cemetery with Fisher Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Floree L. Pollard

TALLULAH – Floree L. Pollard died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Madison Parish Hospital in Tallulah. She was 96.

Mrs. Pollard was a beauty-shop operator. She was of the Methodist faith.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Jean Foreman officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.

Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9 a.m. Saturday until the service.

John Ell Sadler

Services for John Ell “Dotson” Sadler will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Wright Cemetery in Yokena. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with family present from 5 until 6 p.m.

Mr. Sadler died Friday, May 9, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 59.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Artemease Sadler Ferguson and John Dotson; a brother, James “Pete” Sadler.

Survivors include his sons, John Sadler Jr. and Jimmy Sadler, both of Indianapolis; a daughter, Dorothy Neal of Lake City, Fla.; four brothers, J.W. Sadler and Ervin Ferguson, both of Hampton, Va., and Lee Arthur Sadler and Marcus Ferguson, both of Vicksburg; five sisters, Jerry Sadler Hawkins of Willowbrook, Ill., Shirley Ferguson, Charlene Allen and Lydia Ferguson, all of Vicksburg, and Louvinnia Sotomayor of Newport News, Va.; a stepbrother, Robert Pettis of Vicksburg; four grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and Annie Wilson Pettis and the Brown family.
