Five sentenced on probation violations|[07/12/08]

COURT REPORT * From staff reports

In Warren County Circuit Court during the two-week period that ended Friday:

Jamaal Bell, 24, 107 Athens Ave., was found to have violated probation, which stemmed from a 2003 robbery conviction, and had his suspended sentence revoked. Judge Isadore Patrick sentenced Bell to five years in prison, and he must pay $2,115 in fines, court costs, assessments and restitution.

Leon Felix Jr., 20, 1303 Wood St., had his suspended sentence revoked and was sentenced by Patrick to eight years in prison after he was found to have violated probation. Felix’s probation stemmed from a May 30 guilty plea to statutory rape. He was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old in March 2007.

Patrick revoked the suspended sentence of Sylvester Earl Jones, 23, 2612 1/2 Ken Karyl Ave. Jones was found to have violated probation that stemmed from a 2007 conviction of shooting into a motor vehicle. Patrick sentenced Jones to five years in prison.

Jeremy Antonio Moore, 20, 2614 Roosevelt, Apt. B, was sentenced toone year in prison after he pleaded guilty to felony eluding of a law enforcement officer. The offense occurred March 30, 2007, near Second and National streets. Patrick also ordered Moore to pay $312.50 in court costs and assessments.

Jamon Parson, 19, 725 Central Ave., was found to have violated probation and had his suspended sentence revoked. Patrick then sentenced Parson to three years in prison. He had pleaded guilty to business burglary in September 2007.

Robert Lenn Scott, 41, 25 Eastover Drive, Apt. F-4, had his suspended sentence revoked and was sentenced to one year in prison and ordered to pay $1,125 in fines, court costs and assessments. Scott was found to have violated probation that stemmed from a February 2003 conviction of burglary of a dwelling.

Patrick sentenced Eric D. Smith, 37, 1700 Grove St., to four years for violating his probation, which stemmed from a January 2005 conviction of cocaine possession. However, Patrick ordered Smith’s sentence suspended, pending his completion of the Hinds County Restitution Center, where he is to pay $1,876, and completion of the Hinds County Alcohol and Drug Treatment program.
