Oil-change shops hit to tune of $35,000

Two city oil-change and repair shops owned by the same person were reportedly burglarized this morning, with an estimated $35,000 in tools and diagnostic machines missing, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said this morning.

At 2:08, a patrolman discovered that a rear service bay at Mobile One, 4326 U.S. 61 South, was open, Williams said. Reported missing were diagnostic machines for transmissions, radiators, fuel-injectors and air conditioners, a Solis diagnostic tester and a Green Lee tester. The machines had a combined value of nearly $20,000. Also missing was an unknown number of cases of motor oil.

The second incident was reported at 3:16 at Express Lube, 3420 Halls Ferry Road, Williams said. Missing was a burgundy Snap-On tool box containing an undetermined number of tools with an estimated value of $15,000. The suspect used a brick to break a window to gain entry, she said.

Williams would not say whether investigators believe the two crimes are related.

Louisiana man arrested in child molestation

A Louisiana man was arrested by Vicksburg police Tuesday on charges of molesting a child under the age of 16, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said this morning.

Bernard Fannaly, 60, 250 S. First St., Ponchatoula, turned himself in to police after a warrant was issued based on an incident that occurred Sept. 28, Williams said. He was released from Warren County Jail on $10,000 bond.

Vicksburg man jailed on warrant for drugs

A Vicksburg man was in custody this morning after being arrested at 8:51 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, Vicksburg police Sgt. Sandra Williams said.

Roscoe Stewart, 35, 1871 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, was detained on a traffic stop at 3060 Indiana Ave. He remained in the city jail pending his initial appearance in court.

Man, woman charged with prescription forgery

A man and a woman were in the Warren County Jail this morning charged with prescription forgery.

Kershamnn Stokes, 21, and Nashonda Griffin, both of 1009 Polk St., were arrested by the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics at 5 p.m. at the Rite Aid Pharmacy, 3046 Indiana Ave.

No bond had been set.
