Rev. Lafayette George McMorris

SATSUMA, La. — The Rev. Lafayette George “L.G.” McMorris died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in Baton Rouge. He was 80.
Rev. McMorris was a resident of Satsuma, La. He was a member of Colyell Baptist Church in Livingston, La., and the Masonic Lodge Hurd Merrill No. 454. He retired from Bechtel Power after 22 years of service. He was a pastor at churches in French Settlement, Jerusalem and Tickfaw, La., and Gloster, Miss.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Ray McMorris; his parents, Reedus “Bud” and Myrtle Harris McMorris; and a brother, Ernest McMorris.
He is survived by his wife of 62 1/2 years, Emma Lou Roberts McMorris; two sons, Ronald Wayne McMorris Sr. and Jerry Lynn McMorris; three brothers, T.D. “Buddy” McMorris, Silvie McMorris and Etheldred McMorris; two sisters, Norma Watts and Doris Scivicque; and four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be from 6 until 9 tonight and from 9 until 11 a.m. Friday at Colyell Baptist Church with the Revs. Bill Holifield, Gene Douglas and Delmas Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Blount Cemetery under the direction of Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs, La.
Pallbearers will be Greg McMorris, Derek McMorris, Gerald McMorris, Randal McMorris, Kevin Watts and Shane Cornett.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edward Gore, Jeff Lanier, Charles McCon, Fran Tibbit, David Watts and Dr. Jay Brooks.
