Nancy Marie Smythe

Nancy Marie Smythe died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, at her residence. She was 75.
Mrs. Smythe was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg. She was retired as a registered nurse for the Mississippi Department of Public Health and was formerly employed at the Lutheran and Vicksburg hospitals. She received her nursing degree from the Lutheran Hospital in 1954.
She was a graduate of the Carr Central High School Class of 1951 and a member of the Rainbow Girls. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church LCMS.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Z. Smythe; her parents, Robert C. and Sarah Pond Wood; two brothers, Robert C. Wood Jr. and James E. Wood; and a sister, Margie Boone.
She is survived by a son, Gary Zachary Smythe and wife Carla Ann of Vicksburg; a daughter, Rose Marie Smythe of Jackson; two grandchildren, Ruth Michell Vinson and Brittanie May Smythe, both of Vicksburg; two nephews, Kenneth Leroye Boone and Daniel Wayne Boone, both of Vicksburg; and other relatives.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Gary Osburn officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be at the church Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the service.
Active pallbearers will be Kenneth Boone, Daniel Boone, Robert A. Logue, Charles H. Haley, Robin Geary and Keith Martin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Walter Johnston, Sid Ponder, Mississippi Home Care nurses, Becca Suell, Pam Eurtle and Angela Pearson.
