A Vicksburg woman was being treated at River Region Medical Center this morning after one of two wrecks within minutes that slowed traffic on Interstate 20 near Clay Street.

In both wrecks, smaller vehicles ran under the backs of 18-wheeler rigs on I-20 West.

Tanna Edmond, 30, 4526 U.S. 80, was alone in her westbound Chevrolet Cavalier when her car drove beneath an 18-wheeler, damaging both vehicles. No citations were issued, and the truck driver was not identified.

Separately, minutes before, a Ford Explorer driven by Frank Halbert, 69, 412 Trail Wood Drive, Clinton, ran into the back of a truck driven by James Smith, 28, 107 Leigh St., Brandon. Neither driver was injured. Halbert was cited for following too closely.

Traffic on I-20 continued to move, but it was slowed  because one lane was closed.
