Reginald Ellis

Reginald “Reggie” Ellis died Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2009, at his residence. He was 84.
Born in Meridian, Mr. Ellis had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life. He was the son of the late George W. Ellis and Christine Abraham Ellis.
Mr. Ellis was a graduate of Carr Central High School, where he was valedictorian of his class, and he attended the University of Mississippi. He owned and operated the family grocery store, Help Yourself, until his retirement in 1985 and was manager of the Pump and Serve Gas Station until 2005.
Mr. Ellis was a devoted husband, a loving father and an affectionate grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte T. Ellis of Vicksburg; two daughters, Stacie E. Schrader and her husband, G. Philip, of Vicksburg and Melissa E. Bell and her husband, Chad, of Madison; four grandchildren, Allie Grace Bell, Blake Ellis Bell, Wyatt Macance Schrader and Laney Marie Schrader; and two brothers, Norman Ellis of Terry and Dr. Woodrow Ellis of Daytona, Fla.
He was preceded in death by four sisters, Lillian Ellis, Mamie Ellis, Mabel E. Abraham and Flora M. Ellis.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Hess officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Peter Mims, Johnny Mims, Dr. George Abraham, Jack Turner, Bobby Smith, Bryan Rosemand and Tim Harris.
