Billie Doris Brown

Mrs. Billie Doris Brown died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2009, at her residence. She was 79.
Born in Dushau, Miss., Mrs. Brown was a former resident of Bay Springs and had lived in Vicksburg since 1972. She was the daughter of the late Ervin F. Griffin and Lula Warren Griffin.
Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Mississippi State University’s Class of 1949. She taught school in Jasper County for 15 years and, in later years, was in the agriculture and trucking business with her late husband. She was a member of Bay Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Jackie Brown Peterson of Madison; a son, Michael Paul Brown Sr. of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Paul Brown, Janna Brown and Macy Taylor Peterson; and her twin sister, Joyce G. Alexander of Bay Springs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, S.P. Brown; and a brother, John Warren Griffin.
Visitation will be Sunday at Riles Funeral Home from 3 until 5 p.m. Services will be at noon Monday at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Bay Springs with visitation at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be at the Bay Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Joe Alexander, Pat Griffin, Charlie Brown, Devors Brown, Danny Cappaert and Tony DiFatto.
