PORT GIBSON — Robert Polk died Friday, Feb. 27, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 53.

Mr. Polk was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Phelps Gibson; and a sister, Annette Polk.

He is survived by his wife, Lena Bell of Port Gibson; one son, Robert Polk Jr. of Port Gibson; one daughter, TraNiecia Polk of Port Gibson; his father, Adam Polk of Pattison; a sister, Doris Franklin of Vicksburg; five brothers, Melvin Polk of Port Gibson, Dennis Smith of Vicksburg, Ronnie Polk of Carpenter, Willie Polk of Chicago and Maurice Polk of San Gabriel, Calif.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Old Come and See Baptist Church in Port Gibson with the Rev. Erwin Cosey Sr. officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
