Movie tape, mower, hotel TV taken in burglaries

Five residential and business burglaries reported in the city and county over the past two days included one in which the suspect has been charged with simple assault after being accused of hitting a woman during the break-in.

Darrell Green, 47, 1203 Second North St., was arrested at Clay and Hope streets at 11 a.m. Thursday and charged with the Wednesday burglary of a dwelling and simple assault in the 1300 block of Hope Street, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Nothing was reported missing, said Stewart.

Green was in the Warren County Jail this morning without bond.

In the other burglaries:

* The “Golden Child” VCR movie tape valued at $20 was reported missing at 8:25 p.m. from a home in the 1500 block of Sky Farm Avenue.

* A 2008 Craftsman riding lawn mower was reported missing at 4:49 p.m. from a home in the 3600 block of U.S. 80.

* A 2007 dark green Honda Rincon ATV was reported missing at 8:40 p.m. from a home in the 8800 block of U.S. 61 South.

* A Hazlehurst man was in the county jail this morning in the theft of a hotel TV.

Mark West, 32, 1031 Dixon Road, was arrested Thursday and charged with grand larceny after a burglary was reported at 11:34 a.m. Thursday at the Days Inn Hotel, 90 Warrenton Road.

West was renting the room, in which a 37-inch flat screen TV valued at $700 was reported missing, said Stewart.

He was held without bond.
