Vicksburg Main Street Program is truly grateful and appreciative to all of our volunteers, the City of Vicksburg departments, the Warren County Sheriff’s Department, and our downtown merchants who went the extra mile to make the Mardi Gras parade such a success. We would also like to thank our judges, parade committee and parade participants for their hard work and dedication.
Vicksburg Main Street Program would like to thank Sheffield Rentals for their support and donations. We were honored to have Mrs. Alice Hebler of Paper Plus and Mr. Billy Sheffield of Sheffield Rentals as our Queen and King for the 2009 Mardi Gras Parade. Thank you again to everyone who made this year’s Mardi Gras Parade a success.

Run a superb event
Thank you to the people who put forth the time, effort and sacrifice to make the Run Thru History happen, including park personnel, police, ambulance staff, volunteers and others.
The Pledge of Allegiance was so great and whoever sang the national anthem, that was the best I’ve ever heard. God bless all of you and the U.S.A.

Honesty much appreciated
Last Saturday, my parents were visiting from McComb. Before they left, my dad decided he wanted to check an item in Wal-Mart. When they left the store they immediately headed home. Once they reached Crystal Springs my mother realized she did not have her purse. She called me; and my sister and I went to the store to check on it, although with little hope of finding it.
One reason is that it was a “designer purse,” which she had received as a gift from her nephew, the other was that she had a large sum of money in her wallet.
Imagine our relief, surprise and elation when the clerk at customer service stated she had the purse. A customer had picked it up from the “bench” in the entrance and turned it in. The clerk, upon searching for the ID, found the money and had her manager lock the purse in a room for safekeeping.
We cannot thank both of these individuals enough for their honesty. Although we have the name of the clerk — Franchetta Mathews — the customer who found the purse did not leave her name or contact information. If you are that customer or know this person, please have her contact me at 601-636-2107.
My parents and I wish to thank you personally. To the customer and Ms. Mathews, we pray that God may richly bless and reward you.
