Banks, Williams exchange vows at Vicksburg Convention Center

Tekoa K. Banks and Felica Denise Williams were married at 4 p.m. March 28, 2009, at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The Rev. James Burks of Lorman officiated at the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Sarah Williams and the late Arthur James Williams of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of the late Clora Winston of Vicksburg.

The groom is the son of the late George and Pastor Dianne Banks of Vicksburg.

Massive arrangements of roses and calla lilies atop four columns trimmed in greenery adorned the area. Arrangements in the bride’s chosen colors of pool, champagne and ivory completed the setting.

Vocalist Glentrice Johnson performed nuptial selections for the ceremony.

In place of the bride’s grandmother, her great-aunt, Ethel Turner of Michigan, was seated as a special guest.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Mack Martin of Moreno Valley, Calif. She wore an ivory, halter-style gown featuring a split train and beaded sequins along the front and back.

She carried a mix of ivory roses and calla lilies with pearl accents.

Maid of honor was Cheryl Martin of Marion, Ark. Matron of honor was Natasha Gaines of Vicksburg. They each wore strapless, champagne-colored gowns.

Bridesmaids were Yvonne Elmore-Williams of Dallas and Karnina Stevens, Denita Berry, Sharon Banks and Gwendolyn Corrothers, all of Vicksburg.

The attendants wore pool-colored, strapless gowns gathered at the side with a silver pendant.

Flower girl was Jada Banks of Vicksburg. She wore a floor-length, ivory gown featuring a decorative front bow.

Daron Banks of Vicksburg served as best man. Groomsmen were Cedric Gleese, Curby Truitt and Willie Truitt, all of Vicksburg; George Banks of Jackson; and Tejuan Dean of Oklahoma City, Okla.

Ushers were Darnelle White and Charles Gaines III, both of Vicksburg.

Ring bearer was Charles Holmes III of Vicksburg.

Kiera Thomas and Jalen Love, children of the bride, served as junior bride and groom.

Special wedding assistants were Erma Young, Edward Minor and Ruby Green, along with Erica Nash, Jenophia Truitt and Brenda Truitt as bridal assistants.

The bride’s mother wore a gold-and-champagne floor-length gown with beaded sequins. Her corsage of ivory roses was tied with brown ribbon.

A reception followed at the center.

Guest tables were centered with roses and calla lilies. The food table held a massive arrangement of roses, callas and greenery.

Hostesses were Octavia Judge, Ajile Nash, Brittany Truitt, Chantra Gaines and Danielle White.

Guests were entertained with music by DJ Duncan Smith.

For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Destin, Fla. They will make their home in Vicksburg.

Out-of-town guests were from Michigan, California, Indiana, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, Florida, Virginia and various areas in Mississippi.

Bachelorette party

The bride was honored with a bachelorette party at the home of her cousin, Cassandra Johnson. Co-hostesses were Michelle Moore, ShyWanda Moore, Jaclyn Pendleton-Noel and Cassandra Brown.

Shower

Denita Berry and Gwendolyn Corrothers honored the bride with a shower at Fairfield Inn. Special guest was the bride’s mother.
