During the Vicksburg Theatre Guild’s 73rd season, the Parkside Playhouse is the location for a truly remarkable play, “The  Fantasticks,” directed by the talented Larry Gawronski.

Stage manager Paul Ingram and his staff have created a unique theatre on the stage. It is well planned, with-close-to-the-actors seating. The stage is very simple but Haley Sellers is always busy with props. She has the unique ability to be seen but not noticed. The two young lovers are very well cast and are just superb at such a young age. McKenzie Pollock is a freshman at WCHS, but acts and sings far beyond her age. She and Chance Ragsdale interacted so well together. He is only a sophomore at WCHS but his acting and singing are superb.

The two fathers, Michael Nation and David Crosby reached their usual excellence in their performance. The less serious moments were provide by the senior actor “Buddy” Hallberg and  “Raggy” Ragsdale. Paul Ballard was the glue who kept this play together. His voice seems to get richer and fuller.  Dorothy Brasfield, Denise Ragdale and Marie Cunningham were terrific.

Go see this play tonight at 7:30 and Sunday at 2. The few hours seeing “Fantasticks” will be remembered for a lifetime!

Amends quickly made

Recently, my child along with some others were accidentally left off of a good behavior list at Vicksburg Intermediate School and did not get to attend a field trip to Meridian. The principal, Mrs. Sharon Williams, realized the mistake and still took time to reward those children.

Although they did not get to go to Meridian, she did send the children on an outing to Catfish Row. It may not have been the trip to Meridian, but Mrs. Williams made sure those children were made to feel special. Our school district is very fortunate to have someone that is so caring and thinks about the little things that are important to the kids. She believes children should be rewarded and it is a pleasure knowing that she along with her excellent staff is taking care of my child every day. Thank you, Mrs. Williams.
