PORT GIBSON — Maxine Johnson died Sunday, May 3, 2009, at Ochsner’s Hospital in New Orleans. She was 79.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by three daughters, Queen E. Boyd of Hermanville, Shirley Watts of New Orleans and Laura Thompson of Chicago; five sons, Aaron Johnson Jr. of Houston, Texas, Samuel Johnson of New Orleans, Willie J. Johnson of Port Gibson, Calvin W. Johnson of Chicago and Michael Johnson of Hermanville; a sister, Willie Mae Williams of New Orleans; 29 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hermanville with the Rev. Johnnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow at Hermanville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 tonight at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
