Essie R. Akin

Essie R. Akin died Saturday, May 23, 2009, at her home in Jackson. She was 91.
A native of Caney, Okla., Mrs. Akin lived most of her life in Vicksburg and had made her home in Jackson for the past 15 years. She was retired from Westinghouse Corp.
She was a member of Northview Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Akin; daughter, Betty Ann Warren; grandson, Terry Akin; and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include a son, James “Tommy” Akin and wife Sandra of Jackson; a daughter, Jo Evelyn Campbell and husband Joe of Brandon; grandchildren, Vicki Akin Page and husband Mark, Michael Akin and wife Susan, Gerald Warren and wife Shelly, Brooke Warren Furlow and husband Mike, Brian Warren and wife Jessica, Cathy Campbell Cauthen and husband Joe and Allan Campbell; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Greg Hazlerig officiating. Interment will follow at the Yokena Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of the service.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers, and great-grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
