Andrea Vasquez has joined The Vicksburg Post as a summer intern in the news department.

Born in a Los Angeles suburb, Vasquez moved with her family north to Walnut Creek, Calif., in the San Francisco Bay area when she was 6.

Vasquez worked for her high school paper for three years as a reporter, sports editor and entertainment editor.

After high school, Vasquez accepted a scholarship to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studies news-editorial and broadcast journalism as well as Spanish. She has just finished her second year at UNL.

Vasquez has worked as a reporter and editor at the Daily Nebraskan, the independent student newspaper, since the beginning of her freshman year.
