Alcorn State has selected Brenda T. Square as interim director of athletics at Alcorn State University. She replaces Dr. Darren J. Hamilton, who left Alcorn for Livingstone College in North Carolina

She previously served as chief of staff and executive assistant to the university president.

“Mrs. Square is very capable of serving in this capacity and I am confident that she will be a stabilizing force for all involved in the athletics arena,” Alcorn State University president George E. Ross said in a statement provided by the university. 

Square, a Clinton native, was the first female director of athletics at Clark Atlanta University.
