Three men and two juveniles arrested Saturday in a string of auto burglaries were to make their initial appearances in courts today.
Since their arrests, all five have been charged with seven counts of auto burglary in the city, and six remain under investigation, said Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart.
“We believe they were responsible for the other six,” he said.
In addition, the five are suspects in nine auto burglaries in the Warren County subdivisions of Amberleaf, off U.S. 80, and Little Wood, off Lee Road, said Sheriff Martin Pace. No charges have been filed in those cases, Pace said, but county and city investigators are cooperating on possible charges, he said.
Colton Branning, 18, 118 Robert E. Lee Blvd., Jason Henke, 18, 8383 Oak Ridge Road, Zachery Kiser 19, 8383 Oak Ridge Road, have been in the Warren County Jail since their arrests early Saturday. They will appear before a judge in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
The two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, are in the Warren County Youth Detention Center and will appear before Warren County Juvenile Court Judge Johnny Price.
The five are accused in three city auto burglaries in the 100 block of Montaign Drive, one in the 600 block of Holly Ridge, both in Belle Meade subdivision off Porters Chapel Road, and three in the 3300 block of Highland Drive, off South Frontage Road, Stewart said.
Items valued at an estimated $2,000 have been recovered, he said. “We’re still trying to determine which ones are connected to their proper owners,” said Stewart.
The five were arrested early Saturday morning in Highland Subdivision and in nearby woods.
Separately, the five are not suspects in nine auto burglaries that were reported in the city over the weekend and Monday, Stewart said. They were:
