Jones had been hitting just .186 over his previous 39 games in June and July. He had as many hits on Sunday as he did in the first 13 games of this month. He drove in a run with a single in the bottom of the second inning, then put the M-Braves ahead for good with a three-run homer in the fourth.

Jones’ blast to left field, his fourth of the year, gave the M-Braves a 4-2 lead. It was the team’s first three-run home run of the season. They have hit just 35 homers total in 95 games, last in the Southern League.

Drew Anderson hit a solo homer in the ninth inning for Huntsville, and finished the game 2-for-3. Chuck Caufield and Yohannis Perez also had two hits apiece.

Concepcion Rodriguez had two hits and scored twice for the M-Braves. Kyle Cofield (6-3) earned the win, going 6 2/3 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits.
