The Mississippi Braves dodged the rain on Wednesday night, but not a loss.

West Tenn scored four times in the seventh inning to overcome a three-run deficit, then took the lead on Travis Garcia’s RBI double in the top of the 10th and beat the M-Braves 8-7 at Trustmark Park.

The loss snapped a six-game winning streak for the M-Braves.

Garcia went 3-for-5 with two doubles for West Tenn, which used a key throwing error by Mississippi pitcher Jeff Lyman to take a 7-6 lead in the seventh inning. The miscue allowed two runs to score, tying the game at 6, and an RBI groundout from Johan Limonta put the Diamond Jaxx ahead.

Greg Creek’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh tied the game again at 7-all, but the M-Braves only had one baserunner the rest of the way. In the top of the 10th, David Espinosa reached on a fielder’s choice, stole second and scored on Garcia’s double to center to put West Tenn in front 8-7.

Creek finished the game 4-for-5 with three RBIs and a run scored. Matt Young and Jason Heyward each drove in a pair of runs.

The M-Braves scored two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth inning to open a 6-3 lead.
