Delmon Robinson has landed at Copiah-Lincoln Community College.

Co-Lin head coach Glenn Davis said Saturday that the former Mississippi State wide receiver and Vicksburg High product has signed a letter of intent to play for the two-year school based in Wesson.

“He’s signed a national letter of intent with us. We have him all ready to go for us,” Davis said. “We’re very excited to have him.”

Mississippi State announced earlier this week that Robinson, a sophomore, was leaving the Bulldogs’ football program for an undisclosed reason.

Friday at the Josh Powell basketball camp at Vicksburg High, Delmon’s father, VHS basketball coach Dellie C. Robinson, said his son was looking to continue his collegiate career at a junior college.

“Co-Lin was one of the places he was looking at,” Dellie C. Robinson said.

Because he had played only one season at Mississippi State, Delmon Robinson was eligible to transfer to a junior college for his sophomore season and not have to sit out the year. Had he opted to transfer to a Football Bowl Subdivision school, NCAA rules mandated he sit out a year. He also had the option to transfer to a Football Championship Subdivision school, or a Division II or III school and not have to sit out.

But by going to Co-Lin, Robinson will be eligible to sign with another FBS program during December’s early signing period for junior college players.

Robinson caught 12 passes for 125 yards and returned eight kickoffs for 134 yards for Mississippi State in 2008.

Co-Lin opens practice on Monday.
