Helen A. Gilmore

Helen A. Gilmore died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 81.
Born in Grenada, she was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg and a 1946 graduate of St. Francis Xavier Academy. Mrs. Gilmore was a retired reality clerk with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the Salvation Army Auxiliary, a past president of the Evergreen Garden Club, a past board member of the Mississippi Council of Garden Clubs, a member of the Friends of Mississippi State Hospital and the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. She was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, James H. Berryman and Dudley Gilmore.
Survivors include her daughter, Denise Berryman of Miami, Fla.; a son, James Berryman of Vicksburg; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. P.J. Curley, pastor of St. Michael Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the hour of service.
