Thomas H. Harkey Sr. died Thursday, Aug. 20, 2009, at River Region Medical Center. He was 61.

Mr. Harkey was born in North Carolina and had lived in Vicksburg for a number of years.

He served in the Vietnam war and retired from the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Harkey worked as a poker dealer at local casinos for 12 years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion..

Mr. Harkey was preceded in death by his parents, Jay Hugh and Ruby Dell Black Harkey; his first wife, Jacqueline G. Harkey; and a grandson, Richard E. Parrish.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie Fran Brown Harkey; a son, Thomas H. Harkey Jr.; a daughter, Kimberly A. Parrish; four grandchildren; and a special friend, Judith Elizabeth Higgason.

Services will be Monday at 12 noon at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home, with the Rev. Billy Brumfield officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 10 a.m. until the hour of service.
