Wilma Mae Dees

HOUSTON, Texas — Wilma Mae Dees died Thursday, Sept. 1o, 2009, at M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas. She was 76.

A former Vicksburg resident, Mrs. Dees was born in Rayville, La., to the late Archie Bennett and Anne Dee Cole Bennett. She was a graduate of Rayville High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, where she received a registered nursing degree.

Since 1958, she had been a resident of Houston where she worked as a nurse at Methodist Hospital for 30 years before retiring. In addition to several professional organizations, she was a member of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Dorman Dees of Houston; two sons, Monte Carl Dees and wife, Marta, and Dorman Gregory Dees and wife, Angelica, all of Houston; twin granddaughters, Alicia Ann Dees and Felicia Mae Dees, both of Houston; and one sister, Jewel Bennett Zimmerman of Ocean Springs.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday at Riles Funeral Home from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service.
