Dorothy Mae Allen died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at Vicksburg Convalescent Home. She was 77.

Mrs. Allen was a lifelong resident of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon “Shorty” Allen; her parents, Silas and Susie Jackson; and eight sisters, including Mattie Brown of Vicksburg.

She is survived by one brother, Earnest Jackson of Sacramento, Calif.; two sisters, Johnnie Orr and Bernice Hageman, both of Sacramento; and nieces, nephews and other relatives, including Janice Brown and Augusta Brown, both of Vicksburg.

Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
