Ferris takes Best in Show at art group’s fall exhibition

“Red Room I,” a drawing by Martha Ferris of Vicksburg was chosen as Best in Show at the Vicksburg Art Association’s 29th annual Mississippi Artists Exhibition.
Ferris’ work and those from other area artists will be on display and for sale at the Old Constitution Firehouse Gallery from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
For her win, Ferris received a $500 award.
Other winners received ribbons. They were:
Watercolor: First place — Ruth Reese, “Red Hot”; second place — Patty Hughes, Subconscious Outing; third — Myrna Turnipseed, “Petunia Power”; honorable mentions — Michael Taylor, “Fall Colors” and James Smithhart, “Firehouse”.
Fiber: First place — Isabel Adams, “Blowing in the Wind.”
Print: First — Meredith Wilkaitis, “Study in Form and Texture II: Yellow & Blue.”
Three Dimensional: First — Lesley Silver, “Close To My Heart”; second — Betty Crouch, “Seafood Platter”; third — Mark Bleakley, “Tree of Life”; and honorable mention — Janet Akers, “Tribute.”
Acrylic: First — Ron Lindsey, “Rasta Man”; second — Jean Blue, “Connections”; third — Randy Jolly, “Lipstick”; honorable mention — Leslie Horton, “Marathon”; and honorable mention – Leslie Horton, “St. Regis.”
