J.W. Nevels Jr.

J.W. Nevels Jr. died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He was 55.

A lifelong resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Nevels was a mechanic and deckhand for 15 years and later a carpenter. He was a gardener and a model-car builder.

He is survived by two daughters, Melissa Williams and Jennifer Lee, both of Vicksburg; his parents, J.W. Sr. and Bobbie J. Nevels of Vicksburg; six brothers, Jerry David Nevels of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Larry Nevels, Gary Nevels, Elvin Nevels, Jimmy Dale Nevels and Richard R. Nevels, all of Vicksburg; four sisters, Debra Wyatt, Barbara Acuff, Cindy Emrick and Peggy Cousins, all of Vicksburg; six grandchildren; and other relatives and friends, including Pamala Burge.

Services will be at noon Friday at Glenwood Funeral Home with Jimmy Hartley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. Friday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Jason Morson, Andy Rainey, Jay Kraemer, Tommy Cousins, Jamie Williams and Jamie Davis.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Acuff, Elvin Nevels, Trinity Emrick, James Acuff, David Acuff and Shane Acuff.
