Traffic stop leads to arrest of man on weapons charge

A routine traffic stop on Mission 66 Friday afternoon resulted in an arrest of a Vicksburg man on a weapons charge.

Vicksburg police stopped Tommy Lee Johnson, 40, 1511 Grange Hall Road, at 2 p.m. near Military Avenue. He was found to be driving with an expired license, and further investigation turned up a 9-mm handgun, Sgt. Beverly Prentiss said.

Johnson was charged with being a felon in possession of a weapon and cited for the license violation.

Bond was set at $30,000, Prentiss said.  Johnson was being held in the Issaquena County Jail Friday night.

Probation violation lands city man in jail

A Vicksburg man was in Warren County Jail Friday night after violating probation, jail records showed.

Eric Ferguson, 21, 103 Alfa Drive, was being held for Mississippi Department of Corrections officials.

Utility trailer reported stolen from Frontage

A utility trailer was reported stolen at 8:30 Friday morning from Atwood Chevrolet, 2339 N. Frontage Road, Vicksburg police Sgt. Beverly Prentiss said.

The gray 18-foot trailer, valued at $2,500, was taken from the back parking lot, Prentiss said.
