Anne C. Sluis died Sunday, Dec. 13, 2009, at Olive Branch Nursing Home in Tallulah. She was 83.

A native of Alameda, Calif., Mrs. Sluis had lived most of her life in New Jersey, where she was a social worker for Bethany Christian Services in North Haledon. She was a member of Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff, N.J.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Sluis; a daughter, Ruth Ellen Sluis Manning; and a grandson, David Alexander Bristley.

Survivors include three sons, Steven Sluis of Ballwin, Mo., Dr. Gordon Sluis of Vicksburg and James Sluis of Ridgewood, N.J.; a daughter, Kathleen Bristley of Grass Valley, Calif.; her son-in-law, Mark Manning of Ballwin; and 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday in New Jersey under the direction of Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481/201-891-3400.

Glenwood Funeral Home of Vicksburg has charge of local arrangements.
