Memphis coach recommends Hopson for defensive coordinator post

MEMPHIS (AP) — New Memphis football coach Larry Porter has recommended Michigan assistant coach Jay Hopson as defensive coordinator.
Hopson, a Vicksburg native and former Warren Central football standout, recently completed his second season at Michigan, where he was linebackers coach. He also is a former assistant coach at Ole Miss, Marshall, Delta State and Southern Miss.
The recommendation must be approved by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
