Services for Alice Ruth Garner Moseley will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. R.D. Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Ben Brown Jr., Frank James III, Luster Nailor, the Rev. Ron Regan Jr., Anthony Williams and Jared E. Williams.
Honorary pallbearers will be S.L. Caldwell, Willie Deyamport, Frank James Jr., Thomas E. Sandles, Louis I. Sullivan Sr. and Melvin C. Tyler.
Mrs. Moseley died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at Covenant Health and Rehab. She was 80.
She was born July 18, 1929, in Vicksburg to the Rev. Willie A. Garner and Mrs. Alma Hayes Garner, who preceded her in death. She was raised and educated in Vicksburg, graduating from Bowman High School in 1945. She was baptized by the Rev. A.A. Cosey at King Solomon Baptist Church, where she served as Sunday school secretary during that time. She moved to Chicago where she worked for several years. She returned to Vicksburg, where she restored her membership at King Solomon. There, she met and married Mancy Moseley, who also preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are one sister, Betty Garner Williams of Urbana, Ill.; two nephews, William Hayes Garner and David Williams, both of Urbana; great-nieces, Alicia Bell of Champaign and Melissa Garner of Urbana; great-great-nieces, Laneshia and Alexis Bell of Champaign, Ill. and Amaya Garner of Urbana; one aunt, Eva Hayes Milton, of Rolla, Mo.; devoted cousins, Renee´ Hayes James, Jessica Hayes Williams and Helen Foster Collins; numerous other cousins; dear friends, Annie Qualls and Lorraine Brown Johnson; and caregiver, Jannie Dishmon.
