Emergency personnel carry Leta Carter, 79, 467 North First Street, Rolling Fork, to a waiting ambulance Wednesday after she was injured in a wreck with an 18-wheeler on U.S. 61 North. Carter, whose passenger was her husband, James Carter, was attempting to cross the highway at Riley Road when her car collided with a northbound 18-wheeler, driven by Henry Thomas, 54, of Anguilla. Both Carters were taken to River Region Medical Center, where he was listed in fair condition this morning. Mrs. Carter was  transferred to University Medical Center and was in fair condition this morning, a spokesman said. Thomas was not injured. (Katie Carter*The Vicksburg Post)
