Teen jailed in burglary

A Vicksburg teen was charged Thursday in a home burglary in the 2500 block of Cherry Street.

Jonathan T. Grogan, 17, 1802 Vicklan St., was arrested in a wooded area near Finney Street at 10:26 a.m. and accused of taking a gold chain with a black cross valued at $150, a gold necklace with a diamond cross valued at $250, a .22-caliber handgun and a Sony DVD player valued at $85, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

About 30 minutes earlier, workers at the home told police they saw two teens leave the house and run into a wooded area behind.

He said the necklaces were recovered in the woods.

Grogan was in the Warren County Jail on a $10,000 bond. A second suspect had not been found, Stewart said.

Separately, a CD player and a handgun were missing in an auto and a home burglary, Stewart said.

At 3:03 p.m., JVC CD player valued at $175 was reported stolen from an unlocked 1994 Nissan Sentra in the 1800 block of Clay Street.

A High-Point .45-caliber gun valued at $199 was stolen in the 1200 block of South Street at 5:52 p.m.
