Cullinane named No. 2 at ERDC

Dr. John Cullinane Jr. has been named deputy director of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center.
He will assist director Jeffery Holland in managing ERDC’s seven laboratories and more than 2,500 employees. He is also ERDC’s newest member of the Senior Executive Service.
Cullinane, a graduate of U.S. Army War College, is a retired Army Reserve colonel and former chief of staff of the 412th Theater Engineer Command. He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s in sanitary engineering, both from Mississippi State. He has a doctorate in environmental water resources engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. He has a law degree from Mississippi College, and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar Association.
His awards include the EPA Bronze Medal for Commendable Service, two Department of the Army Meritorious Civilian Service awards and two Bronze de Fleury medals. His military decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.
Cullinane is a member of and former director of the Water Environment Federation; a past president and vice president of the Mississippi Water Environment Association; and a member of the Army Engineer Association and the Reserve Officer Association. He and his wife, Gwen, have two children, Vicki and Tim.
